Power on the go!

We now have a generator to run the roof A/C that is pretty much required here in Texas! Most of the time we will be on a shore line power, but as we travel with our dog Tripp it’s nice to be able to pull in anywhere and leave him in A/C. Even if it’s just a Crackerbarrel for dinner!

I selected a Yamaha EF2400ISHC due to it being one of the smallest form factor generators that will reliably run a 13,500 BTU roof mounted A/C that is normally used in RVs. It’s mounted in a Torklift “Lock and Load” carrier that uses the factory receiver hitch.

Reasons I selected this setup;

• Quiet generator typical of Invertor technology
• Starts and runs with ease
• High Capacity start technology
• Major repair needed? Just replace the unit! :-)

I avoided the undermounted generator like the Onan/Cummins units normally used. We have had them before, always seem to develop start/run/shurge issues over time. Especially if not used regular.
